Two people are facing attempted murder charges following a shooting in Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement.
On Sept. 7, RCMP responded to a report of a shooting at a home on Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement and were advised en route that an adult man had been taken to hospital with a serious life-threatening injury. Officers were able to locate the home where the shooting occurred and “significant damages” were observed, RCMP said in a news release Monday.
A search warrant was obtained for the home and police seized firearms, ammunition and forensic evidence. Two people were subsequently arrested and charged.
Guy Edward Delorme, 30, of Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement was charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, disguise with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm and theft of a motor vehicle.
Brendan Christopher Dion, 30, of Edmonton was charged with attempted murder, unauthorized possession, disguise with intent and breach of a release order.
Both Delorme and Dion were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Boyle provincial court on Tuesday.
RCMP continue to investigate the shooting and do not believe it was random.
Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement is approximately 160 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
