A third Edmonton school has been added to the province’s COVID-19 watch list after four more cases were identified at Austin O’Brien High School.
Alberta Health Services identified two new cases of COVID-19 at Austin O’Brien on Tuesday and two more on Wednesday, with a total of six cases now confirmed, according to Edmonton Catholic Schools spokeswoman Lori Nagy. A school is added to the province’s watch list when there are five or more confirmed cases.
Two more schools in Edmonton have outbreaks of COVID-19 as of Wednesday. Louis St. Laurent Junior/High School with Edmonton Catholic had a second case confirmed on Tuesday. The school’s first case was reported on Monday.
AHS also confirmed a second person tested positive for the virus at Aldergrove Elementary School. Edmonton Public Schools spokeswoman Megan Normandeau said AHS has advised that the two cases at the school are not linked.
