A man has been arrested as the RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigates a suspicious death on the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement.
High Level RCMP received a report of a disturbance at a home on the settlement in the evening of Sept. 21. Shortly after they received a call of a firearm at the same home, a news release said Friday.
When officers arrived at the home they found 28-year-old Brett Daniel Sowan suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and an autopsy is scheduled for next week.
Randall James Cardinal, 26, He has been charged with second-degree murder.
Paddle Prairie is approximately 700 kilometres north of Edmonton.
