Albertans will have more options to order alcohol online following the partnership of Skip the Dishes and Liquor Depot.
The two companies announced recently that alcohol delivery will be available at 70 Alberta locations and 11 cities across the province. Liquor Depot is a subsidiary of liquor retailer Alcanna, which also owns Wine and Beyond as well as Nova Cannabis.
Skip the Dishes started offering alcohol delivery in Alberta in February. The service was offered in Manitoba and British Columbia in 2017. The online ordering company said that since March, when the COVID-19 pandemic started, alcohol orders increased by more than 700 per cent during peak demand in Canada.
Edmontonians were also more likely to purchase beer than Calgarians, according to the company’s ordering trends. Calgarians, however, have purchased more alcohol overall including beer, spirits and wine.
Purchasing alcohol can be done through the Skip the Dishes app. Couriers will check ID contactless during delivery.
