“We are thankful no one was seriously injured in these events,” Staff Sgt. Dan Martin, Blackfalds RCMP detachment commander, said in a news release.

“The quick response of officers from multiple detachments and agencies resulted in the arrest of two suspects and prevented further offences from occurring.”

Mounties called in neighbouring law enforcement agencies to help search for the suspects.

Police say the 28-year-old man abandoned his truck and stole a vehicle in a rural area of Innisfail. He ditched the new vehicle and was attempting to steal a second one when he injured himself as he was trying to get inside. He was arrested and taken to hospital for minor injuries.

Edmonton police dogs helped find the 32-year-old man.

Both were remanded into custody following judicial hearings in Red Deer.

Jordan McConnell, 28, of no fixed address, is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of stolen property over $5,000, operating a conveyance in a manner dangerous to the public, operating a conveyance involved in an accident and fail to stop and offer assistance.

Jorge McConnell, 32, of no fixed address. is charged with theft of motor vehicle and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
