Alberta sets daily COVID-19 case record with 406 infections

EDMONTON — Alberta Health reported 406 cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, the province’s highest daily increase to date.

Confirmed active cases increased by 169 to a total of 3,372 infections. There are 1,649 cases in the Edmonton zone and 1,174 in the Calgary zone.

The province also announced three more deaths: A man in his 60s and a man in his 70s in the Edmonton zone and a woman in her 70s in the Calgary zone.

There are 113 Albertans in hospital, including 16 in ICU.

Alberta has reported 23,402 cases and 296 deaths since March.

On Wednesday, the Alberta government also confirmed to CTV News Municipal Affairs Minister Tracy Allard had tested positive for the coronavirus, and Premier Jason Kenney, a close contact, is in self-isolation and will get tested.
