Drayton Valley man charged with first-degree murder in Red Deer

A 29-year-old man from Drayton Valley has been charged with first-degree murder after a recent homicide in Red Deer.

Paramedics called local RCMP for help with a sudden death just after 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at a home near 58 Avenue and 69 Street in Red Deer, Mounties said in a news release Wednesday. Dennis Anderson Edwards, a 37-year-old man from Red Deer, was found dead.

Police considered his death suspicious and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation. An autopsy was completed in Calgary. Edwards’s cause of death hasn’t been released.

Jordan David Ruff, 29, is in custody pending a judicial hearing.

Mounties have not provided further details.

Drayton Valley is about 140 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
