On Nov. 22, human remains were found following a fire on an oil lease site in the area of Township Road 580 between Range Road 243 and Range Road 244 in Sturgeon County.

An autopsy was completed on Nov. 24, and determined the manner of death was homicide. However, the cause of death is being withheld for investigative purposes.

Working closely with the RCMP, Edmonton police have since confirmed the remains belong to 30-year-old Cody Sinclair, who was last seen in early November.

According to police, Sinclair was last seen on Nov. 8, after being released from the Royal Alexandra Hospital at about 10:30 p.m.

Investigators later learned he was also seen in the Prince Charles neighbourhood on Nov. 9.

Sinclair was reported missing on Nov. 18 and the public was notified two days later.

Anyone with information about Sinclair and his death is asked to contact police.

Sinclair’s death is the 36th confirmed homicide of 2021.
