The List: Muttart Conservatory is back with live music for the season

Article content

With the Muttart Conservatory out for renovations before the pandemic, it’s seriously been quite some time since the garden pyramids in the valley have featured in-person, “seasonal” music in December.

Two events over the next couple of weekends are happening to make up for this absence.

First, this Sunday, it’s Family Night, with wonderful cellist Christine Hanson and classical guitarist Jamie Philp. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and you’re invited to do some planting and even take a plant home with you. At the same time, there’ll also be pyramid tours with the conservatory’s interpreters.

Then, from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m., Hanson and Philp will perform their concert, after which you can wander and enjoy the various ecosystems under glass.

A week later, on Dec. 19, it’s Adult Night, again with cellist Hanson — but this time accompanied by harpist Keri-Lynn Zwicker. Otherwise, the schedule is the same: plant and wander at 6:30 p.m.; watch the show at 7:30 p.m.; wander till 9 p.m. when the doors close. Sounds lovely.
