Edmonton weather: Warmer than extremely cold feels extremely warm

A look at today’s Edmonton weather  by  Environment Canada.

Sunday morning temperatures at the Edmonton Blatchford station are reporting a temperature of -21.2 C with 7 km/h winds out of the south, southeast contributing to a -27 wind chill.

So we all know it’s supposed to warm up here significantly tomorrow but by just how much remains a bit of a mystery.

The forecast seems to change by the hour with some highs pegged as high as 16 C yesterday before coming back down to 9 C and then settling where it is now at 0 C. Which is it? We’re waiting. Inquiring minds want to know.

Wherever the temperature finally lands it’s sure to be significantly warmer, either way. Lord knows we’ve earned a break.

But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves here as today is still expected to be quite chilly — not yet t-shirt weather but certainly an improvement. Forecasters are calling for a bit of snow throughout the day and a balmy high of -17 C. The snow is expected to taper off around 2 p.m. and we might even see some sun just before it sets around 4:30 p.m.

Overall, not the worst day by a long shot but needless to say I’m happy I worked this weekend so I can now enjoy the next two glorious days off. A Monday-Tuesday weekend never looked so good.
