Patrol officers responded to a weapons complaint at a home on Lakeview Road in west Edmonton on Thursday at about 11:45 p.m. where they recognized a suspect with warrants for a criminal flight and shooting offence in Valleyview, about 350 km northwest of Edmonton, in July, police said in a Friday news release.

After the suspect left the west-end home, the police Air 1 helicopter found the suspect’s vehicle near 116 Avenue and 124 Street, police said, where officers saw the suspect leaving as a passenger in another vehicle.

Police said a tactical team responding to the area conducted a traffic stop before taking the suspect into custody without incident. An investigation found imitation firearms in a stolen vehicle.

Archie Papastesis, 39, faces multiple charges including possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of a controlled substance, and five counts of breach of conditions.
