Alberta government defers timber dues to assist forestry industry

EDMONTON — Forestry companies are getting a break to help them cope with the pandemic.

The Kenney government has announced it will defer timber dues for six months.

The hope is this will keep companies operating, and people working during the pandemic.

Close to 19,000 Albertans were employed in the forest sector in 2018.

The industry contributes over $2 billion to the Alberta economy.
