Edmonton Oilers make another move, sign forward Josh Archibald

This in from the Edmonton Oilers, news of their signing free agent forward Josh Archibald:”The #Oilers have signed forward Josh Archibald to a one-year contract. The Regina, Saskatchewan native tallied 12 goals & ten assists for 22 points in 68 appearances with Arizona in 2018-19.”

My take

  1. This is going to hurt, but Archibald, an unknown Arizona attacker, has scored more even strength points per game in the past two years than any Oilers forward not named Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. In that time, Archibald at 1.52 points 60 ranks 275th out of 450 NHL forwards for even strength scoring, so this places him as a third-line player.
