“The events, music, theatre, and literature that occurred at The Almanac was very special and I am happy to be part of the events,” he says. “We have a rooftop space in Boxer and our first event is set for May 1. I hope to use it as my Fringe venue for this year!”
Meacham, who also just opened a new health and fitness space called Sirona farther down Whyte Avenue on 96 Street with his wife Dominique, has hired chef Trevor Moan (Three Boars; Say Uncle; Blue Plate Diner) to come up with the new menu.
“We’ll be using as much food as possible from the Old Strathcona farmers market, or direct from local producers, and we want to offer a lot of vegan or vegetarian dishes. There’ll be several house-made pasta dishes, 50/50 vegan and not vegan. For animal proteins we want some items that you can’t find at the grocery store, and we want to make them approachable. For example, the market supplies bison, ostrich, elk, pork, and chicken.”
