Highway 32 near Edson is impassable after two vehicles collided, causing chemicals to spill across the road Saturday morning.

Edson RCMP said in a release the crash occurred on Highway 32 just south of Township Road 575. No injuries were reported.

A semi-truck hailing petroleum distillates had its load comprised as a result of the collision and the highway is impassable in both directions so crews can clean up the hazardous material.

Police say emergency crews will remain on scene for several hours and there is no danger to the public. Drivers are asked to take an alternate route.

An update will be provided when the highway reopens.
