Watch: Alberta Premier Jason Kenney holds off on enacting turn-off-the-taps legislation

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said he was holding off on enacting Bill 12, the turn-off-the-taps legislation to force BC to back down from obstructing the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion. The bill was proclaimed on Tuesday, April 30 during a cabinet meeting.

“Like all Canadians, but more than most, British Columbians benefit from the Trans Mountain pipeline. It’s the way that most B.C. gasoline is delivered,” Kenney said.

“Unfortunately since coming to office in July of 2017, the B.C. government has opposed the expansion of this pipeline every step of the way.”

The NDP introduced Bill 12 last April as Alberta fought with B.C. over the Trans Mountain expansion. The legislature returns to sit on May 21.
