An evacuation order was issued for a four-storey condo complex at 9930 100 Ave. in Fort Saskatchewan about 8 a.m. Friday.
Brad Ward, Fort Saskatchewan’s director of protective services, told reporters during a news conference that residents first started complaining about “spongy floors” and structural engineers were brought in to inspect.
Ward said the building was completed in 2003. Of the 44 suites, people in at least 26 suites were affected, Ward said, and 10 were vacant. Ward says there are people in approximately three suites who still need to be contacted.
